Yesterday evening I and a number of public representatives and members of the Business Community attended a meeting held by DDR to unveil their plans of the new and local dog rescue centre in Dundalk hopefully to be completed by the end of this year.
Dundalk Dog Rescue (DDR) is an entirely voluntary non-profit organisation set up in 2005 by like minded people in the community of Dundalk and surrounding areas. DDR is a great organisation to be involved in. A dog is always at the heart of a home, and given the the town of Dundalk and the surrounding areas have already given €100K a year for the last 4 yrs the town has already dug deep and helped this organisation collectively.
Having cared and re-homed 747 unwanted dogs last year alone this organisation is beyond determined to make Dundalk the first town to build a custom designed Rescue Centre.

But they can’t do it on there own!! The total cost involved to make this plan a reality in €200K approximately.
They are asking the Local Business community to dig deep and help them raise €60k by the end of May 2017 for a very worthy cause. They hope to raise the balance by fundraising and from sponsorship. Details are all set out at
http://dundalkdogrescue.ie/sponsorship-packages-for-our-new-rescue-centre/
This will be the first Rescue centre of its kind run by volunteers. The group of people I met that are well known in the Community are to be commended and deserve any support that you can give be it volunteering your time or donating whatever amount you can give at their donate page http://dundalkdogrescue.ie/donate/.
I have no doubt that given the turnout to the event last night and the group of people involved that this plan will be come a reality and am sure that this centre will be built by the people of the Town!!
