Scenic Carlingford Ferry- opening in June 2017

Yesterday I attended a briefing from the Scenic Carlingford Ferry team at Greenore with other Members of the Louth County Council and Staff .The Ferry links the historic & mythical Ireland’s Ancient East, from the Cooley Mountains to the Gateway of Northern Ireland, to the majestic Kingdom of Mourne.

I know that there is bated anticipation for the opening of the ferry as it will allow easy and direct access to this stunning, yet largely undiscovered area of Ireland, which locally we all know is a hidden gem and Ireland’s best kept secret!!!

Scenic Carlingford Ferry, Managing Director Paul O’Sullivan showed the location of the ferry pier and also informed the party that the launch of the first ferry will be the June Bank holiday 2017!!  The ferry will accommodate up to 44 cars and 250 passengers. The ferry crossing will take 20 mins and pass the Green island which is situated on the Lough and is inhabited by seals. The Ferry will run from 7.30am to 9.30 pm.

Sailings  are from Greenore, Co Louth & Greencastle, Co Down daily with single, return and multi trip tickets which are keenly priced available.

http://carlingfordferry.com/ is going live this week with a special offer of  25% reduction on ticket prices which will be valid for 90 days.

I want to commend all the team @sceniccarlingfordferry for having the drive, bravery and persistence of making the long talked about and awaited ferry crossing of Carlingford Lough a reality. I know that it is going to be such a positive attribute for our  Tourism industry not only in County Louth but the entire North East. This in turn will have a positive knock on effect  for the economy in the area as a whole.

Such a trip is not to be missed!
